Dear Lola,
I promise to love you, even when you feel unlovable. I promise to lift you up when you're down. I promise to be your biggest fan in every success and your softest landing in every failure. I promise to dance with you in the kitchen, even when there's no music. I promise to always be myself with you and to accept you exactly as you are. I promise to be that person who checks in with you at parties to check you're okay. I promise to never stop learning about you, and to keep falling in love with who you are and who you become. I promise to choose you every single day, over and over again. I promise to never lose our spark and to always do the little things to make you happy, and I promise to hold you forever in my heart, as long as i live.
You are Worthy of All of my Love, Yours forever, Lola xoxo
Dear Reader,
Four Years Ago Today I Launched Lola’s Hippie Shit. Then in summer of 2021 I began attending music festivals and local market places sharing my wares and meeting wonderful people. I continued marketing through to the end of 2023 market season and then embarked on a grand adventure through Portugal and Italy with my sweet mama. I was so inspired by texture and colour and landscape. I realized then that it was time to rebrand Lola‘s Hippie Shit to reflect my exciting journey into the world of silversmithing that began in April 2023.
When I was 13, I lived in Australia and attended a huge outdoor market where vendors were selling sterling silver jewellery and I became very enamoured with how these adornments could help me express my own style. Lola’s Heart Center is what I like to call a brand extension of Lola’s Hippie Shit. This brand extension is an elevation most certainly, and I feel like it has only just begun. The collection shared at this launch includes a majority of the stock I had at hand from my creations leading up util now.
To say I’m excited about the future is an understatement. I have endless lists of collections that I’m excited to create in 2025. I’m most excited to work with texture and shape that honours and celebrates the abundant beauty that Our world has to offer if you just take a moment to look. I will continue to repurpose and up cycle metals, leather locally sourced feathers, denim, and dismantled estate sale finds etc…I’m also looking forward to adding to my healing stone collection with more stones that are locally sourced from here in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.
The creative process is one that Demands a great amount of self reflection, intrinsic motivation, and the willingness to work through the creative artist blocks that inevitably rear of their heads when you least expect them. Though this journey has taken me longer than I had thought it might, I have found a new grace in yielding to it’s timing and celebrating the fact that it has happened.
If there’s one thing I’m blessed with in this world, it is an amazing and abundant tribe of family, chosen family, and friends who have supported me through every step of this. Over the last six months, I have become increasingly aware of the abundance of availability, consistency and beauty in my support system. So thank you all…you know who you are…And even if you don’t…My gratitude for you is abundant and endless.
Today we celebrate Winter Solstice 2024,the shortest day we will see this year. I’m so so excited for longer days be they filled with sunshine, rain, snow or clouds…each will be met with Gratitude for my Beautiful life and all of its offerings,
With So Much Love,Â
